About your new BREAST friend
I am so happy you're here! My name is Kristianna Huesmann, IBCLC
(International Board Certified Lactation Conusltant) or "Latch Fairy"
I'm currently in school to become an SLP, to further help the infants I see with feeding disorders.
I found my passion in becoming an IBCLC when I had my oldest daughter, born in 2012.
Long story short, we had every issue imaginable. Clogs, mastitis, undiagnosed oral tethers, latching difficulties, and to be 100% transparent, I just didn't have the education or the help when I had her. It was challenging, defeating, and the amount of tears I cried are uncountable. I had no idea IBCLCs were a thing, The hospital staff tried to help, but they were unseccesful and instead of bringing in someone specifically trained in lactation, we had a bottle of formula tossed our way and were told "Fed is best anyways" I didn't need to hear those words though, I needed someone to support and guide me in my goals. Instead those goals got pushed aside and I was simply made to feel that I wasn't enough for my daughter- and we were sent home.
I started reasearching what was going on, and google didn't help. If anything all the conflicting information on there just made me more stressed. The groups I joined all had a ton of advice that just didn't work. I gave up - and our journey came to an end.
When I got pregnant with my second child in 2015. I heard of an IBCLC for the first time, and I knew I had to have one when my son was born. She was so helpful and educated me on things that I wish I had known with my first child.
At this point I knew this is what I wanted to do- I wanted to help other mothers never feel the way I did with my first child; & so my studies began and led me to who I am today ---
A PROUD IBCLC dedicated to helping serve other fellow parents who are struggling with evidence based guidance and a plan tailored to meet your specific needs to match your goals.
Because after all
Breastfeeding is most beneficial
Fed is essential
BUT support is BEST!
I can not wait to meet you and your little one, and help you along your personal lactation journey -- No matter what that looks like I'm here to help you meet YOUR goals.
